Queensland state champion, Paul Curran came from the clouds to take out a thrilling microsprint feature race last saturday night at Goulburn speedway
The Goulburn club provided an excellent track for this meeting which also served as the 2nd Rnd of the prestigous Isaacs Memorial series held annually in honor of the foundation member Mike Isaacs, who passed away due to illness several years ago.
As the field took the green to signal the start of what would become arguably one of the best microsprint races in recent memory front row starter Mike Ridings jumped away to an early lead. He was soon under pressure as firstly Rhys Marchant and then Paul Curran, cleared the tightly packed field to give chase
The resulting contest saw the trio of drivers battle tooth and nail for position at time running 3 wide before Paul Curran finally gained the upper hand, despite being pushed all the way by Rhys Marchant. Mike Ridings faded to finish 3rd
Heat Races were split evenly with Paul Curran and Rhys Marchant taking a win each. The only incident of the night occured in heat 1 when rookie driver and last time out winner Brett Finucane made contact with the turn one wall after a steering failure resulting in a a few broken bones in his left ankle. The Microsprint community wish Brett a speedy recovery
