Set to join NSW, QLD, WA states running Microprints next season will be Victoria. With one car already purchased, a Bill Roberts GRIZZLY and another on the way Victoria is looking forward to hosting 2 rounds of an exciting Tri-State Series. A fair bit of interest has already been shown in Victoria with Mark McLean and Craig Mannix, two of the main initiators of the push to develop the class in Victoria, already making the trek to NSW to watch the racing and ask questions. What they saw on their fact finding mission encouraged them to come home and put the wheels in motion to get the class up and running in the southern state. "What we saw really impressed us, the cars were quick, actually putting in quicker lap times than the Formula 500's that raced the same night. Plus they were a very friendly bunch of people that were keen to answer questions and got along together very well. It made my mind up for me and I rang Bill Roberts the next day and ordered a car." McLean said. "We are now keen to seek expressions of interest from others in Victoria who would like to get involved in this tremendous. cost effective class. The class would appeal to any ex-Formula 500 competitors that are struggling to keep up with the rising costs, as I saw several right hand mounted cars at the pointy end on the night. Except for the obvious engine difference there is very little difference between a Micro and a Formula 500, so anyone who has a 'old' 500 don't throw it away just yet, we have got just the class for you." We are going to have a meeting in early May to formalize a club and the will be applying to NASR to accept us as a legitimate National Class. I have had conversation with the other States and everyone is on the same page which is great, it is a very exciting future for the class.
